INITIAL CONTACT

Contacting me via this website or via email is best to arrange an appointment. At times, I have a waitlist for appointments, however I will let you know what is the anticipated timeframe prior to being able to offer regular appointments and discuss a support plan for you for the interim.

Once your initial appointment is booked, I will send through an intake form for you to complete.

INITIAL APPOINTMENT

At your first appointment, I will explore what is happening from a holistic perspective, where we will talk about all areas of your life, in addition to what you are seeking support with. From this first consultation, an individual program will be developed, to help you achieve your goals.

The amount of appointments you may need will depend on many contributing factors, but 6 -10 appointments is typical.

If you are seeking counselling for a sexual difficulty, I may recommend that you seek further assessment with a medical profession to rule out any physical health causes.

ONGOING APPOINTMENTS

Your follow up appointments will depend on your treatment goals. Practice of any strategies that we develop in sessions will be crucial for your progress in counselling and meeting treatment goals.

Referral

Your GP may refer under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which entitles you to a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per year. You may also be referred by a Specialist (psychiatrist, gynaecologist) which provides the same entitlement as a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Alternatively, you can self-refer as a private client.

Privacy & Confidentiality

The general rule is: what is spoken about in counselling, stays in the room. There are times, however, that confidentiality cannot be maintained, which is when:

1. There are concerns about your safety or the safety of somebody else;

2. Notes are subpoenaed to court;

3. A serious crime, that hasn't been dealt with by Police or the Courts, is disclosed.

I will talk about confidentiality in your first session and at other times, when it is relevant, so feel free to ask any questions or voice any concerns you have about this. If I ever have to break confidentiality for any of the reasons above, rest assured that I will discuss this with you if it is safe to do so.
